Waterloo, Ontario to the Dempster Highway Yukon, camping along the way, that's over 10,000 km! This summer I will be documenting through photographs the people, communities and landscape of the Boreal Forest in each province from Ontario west. The images will then be exhibited in galleries and through lectures and presentations to students in order to raise awareness of the Boreal Forest and generate discussions on how to protect it. You can't protect what you don't know or love and my images educate from small children to adults not only the natural beauty but the importance of the Boreal to the planet. My two youngest children (9 & 12) will be joining me for the whole trip and my husband for parts of the trip. I will also give a digital camera to each of my children so they can document their impressions of the Boreal. Next summer we will continue phase two and head east to the Atlantic.
Thank you to the Waterloo Region Arts Fund for their support in making this possible.
