The goal of the Flathead RAVE is to bring back a comprehensive visual portrait of the wilderness, wildlife, and conservation issues (CBM, Mountaintop Mining, Deforestation) in the Flathead wilderness in a very short period of time to aid the Flathead campaign. To do so the Flathead RAVE will deploy a multi disciplinary team of specialized ILCP photographers (landscape, wildlife, macro, camera trapping, portraiture), writers and cameramen to the Flathead in July 2009. Photographers are coming all the way from Germany and Mexico to join effort. The media collected during the Flathead RAVE will be used in communication initiatives aimed at creating content and disseminating conservation messages to a wide variety of audiences. These will include multimedia for Internet viral communications, fine art exhibitions, lectures, books, and magazine articles among others. The International League of Conservation Photographers is partnering with several organizations to launch the RAVE including: Patagonia, Freedom to Roam, Y2Y, Sierra Club BC, National Parks Conservation Assoc. and the WILD Foundation.
