The Bay of Fundy is home to multiple rows of Horse Mussel Reefs that are up to 4m high, 40m wide and up to 1km long... that`s higher than the ceiling in an average room and larger in area than an average city block! CPAWS-NS has been working to create a National Marine Conservation Area in the Bay of Fundy to protect an ecologically signifcant area that features among many things, the only place on earth where reefs of this size formed by Horse Mussels have been found.
